Maintenance operations

Sizing a course maintenance building

Organize mower storage, repair work and supplies around the turf crew's routine.

List the mowers, utility vehicles and tools, then add the work done around them. Check the space for preparation, repairs and storing equipment between uses.

Follow the first and last tasks

Ask the turf team to describe the beginning and end of a typical workday. Record which equipment leaves first, what supplies are collected and what happens when machines return.

List each major item with available dimensions and supplier information. Add attachments and seasonal equipment that may not appear in the daily lineup. Identify items awaiting repair separately from ready-to-use equipment.

Map storage and servicing

Show parking positions, workbenches, parts storage and the route to the service area. Include space used when equipment is opened for maintenance or a component is removed, with requirements confirmed by the appropriate suppliers and advisers.

Describe any specialized materials the operation intends to store. List the supplies separately and have the project team confirm their storage requirements.

Connect the building to the course

Mark the route from the yard to working areas and the approach for deliveries. Include nearby wash facilities and any existing cart storage. Ask the team to discuss conflicts between vehicles returning, supplies arriving and staff moving on foot.

If the project combines cart storage and maintenance under one roof, describe which spaces are shared and which remain separate. Request a written scope for each function so the proposal reflects the actual operation.
